Beautiful and amazingly cheap places to travel in 2018

Travel in 2018 is definitely starting to look better than ever. Major airlines are needing to compete more with the low budget airlines so flying to popular destinations is now cheaper. It’s totally commonplace to find tickets to Europe from $400 to $600 dollars just scrolling through Facebook on any given day. However, just because the plane ticket is affordable, doesn’t mean that the rest of the trip will be, too.

Keep in mind that affordable airfare ≠ affordable travel

So, to successfully travel in 2018 without going over budget you’ll need to be a little strategic about where you travel to make the most out of those exchange rates and get the most bang for your buck. If you’re mindful of the low seasons and the destinations, you should be able to get wild on your New Year’s resolutions. I had to make this number one on this list because it’s number one in my heart!

Although the current exchange rates from COP (Colombian pesos) to EUR and USD is not favorable for Colombians, it makes me happy that it puts Colombia on the radar for more tourists to visit and to hear and witness another side of our story. The side of our story that talks about our Nobel in literature, about out gold medals in BMX, about award-winning musicians, fashion designers and painters, our beautiful and kindhearted people, our delicious food, our colorful wilderness and multiple climates.

The average exchange rate is around 2,917 – 3,076 COP to 1 US dollar and its predicted to go as high as 3,182 in 2018 according to XE charts.

Although I haven’t been everywhere in Indonesia, it’s home to my favorite destination so far, Bali! It’s paradise on Earth, filled with lush green forests, incredible wildlife, beautiful people, delicious food, and crystal blue waters. The Indonesian Rupiah (INR) average exchange rate is around 63.64121 – 65.13220 INR to 1 USD. Is predicted to go as high as 68.80615 INR in 2018.

Nepal is high on my bucket list, and it seems like 2018 is the year! There’s more to Nepal than just climbing Everest, and according to Lonely Planet, Nepal is a land of snow peaks and Sherpas, yaks, and yetis, monasteries, and mantras. Sounds like an adventure to me!

According to XE Charts, the exchange rate averages around 104.02192 NPR to 1 USD and it’s predicted to rise as high as 109.66186 to 1 USD.

Viva Mexico lindo y querido!

Sweet, citrusy and spicy pretty much describes this place. There is something for everyone and so much to see. Famous for its mariachis, painters, food, and, tequila. Mexico also has incredible wildlife, milky-pink lakes, and cenotes to explore, plus numerous aquatic activities. Whether you like the city, the forest or the beach, Mexico has it all!

The (MXN) Mexican Peso exchange rate to USD is around 19.14487 predictions expect it to rise as a high as 21.95646 in 2018.

I haven’t been yet, but after this season’s Laos episode of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, I can’t stop dreaming about it.

Portugal is quickly becoming a popular destination for travel in 2018 thanks to the low round-trip airfares. Cities like Lisbon and Porto are attracting tons of people from all over the world that want to try the Porto wine and experience Portugal’s food scene.

Portugal’s exchange rate for 2018 is projected to be as high as 0.96231 EUR to 1 USD. However, the cost of food, accommodation, and transportation are low.

Colorful, romantic and aromatic! Although not all aromas are great at times, it has a very lively culture, and the views are fantastic! Writers, poets, and painters gravitate toward Humphrey Bogart’s romantic Casablanca. The most adventurous head to the Sahara desert. Riding camels at sunset and camping at a Bedouin camp was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. I still talk about it all the time. Definitely worth the visit. So, make sure you make Morocco as part of your travel plans for 2018.

Who hasn’t daydreamed about a trip to the Canary Islands? Famous for its beautiful waters, its dramatic landscape filled with plenty of activities for explorers and beach bums alike. There’s more to the Canary Islands than sun tanning and cocktails by the beach. The most popular activities include trekking through volcanoes, wine tasting, sailing to and from Tenerife, and camel riding in Maspalomas Dunes.

The local currency is EUR euros, same as Portugal and our next destination, Poland.

When some hear Poland, they think about the country’s sad and painful history through World War II. However, today Poland has a different face and is a colorful destination. Lonely Planet describes Poland as a country where  “Chic medieval hot spots like Kraków and Gdańsk vie with energetic Warsaw for your urban attention. Outside the cities, woods, rivers, lakes, and hills beckon for some fresh-air fun” I don’t know about you, but to me, it sounds like fun.
