Where is my cute accent from?
I’m originally from colorful and romantic Cartagena, Colombia but I’ve been living in weather-bipolar Fort Lauderdale. I began actively traveling three years ago, splitting my time between travel, work, family, and pets.
I like to travel as much as possible, but I do spend more time at home than abroad, just like most of you, and is because I believe there’s a sweet spot between a traveler’s life of excitement and the joy of having a home.
What was life like before travel?
I used to be devoted to my job with 16 hour days, with a very limited social life, so travel was not really in my plans. I kept thinking “I don’t have enough time” or “I don’t have enough money.”
So, what changed?
I was mentally and physically tired all the time, and I figured that after all this time working non-stop I deserved a break. With the help of my mom and with some money I had saved for emergencies I booked my first vacation of my adult life. The experiences I lived during that trip help me realized that life could be so much more than just work. That I also needed to enjoy the present and that if I didn’t take breaks and spoil myself a little my life would pass me by uneventful. Like a boring book. That was enough for me to make a change.
What have I learned so far from my travels?
- I’ve learned that a life without adventure is no longer acceptable.
- I learned that I needed to make travel an essential part of my life because it makes me better.
- I’ve learned how to heal & to find my way.
- I’ve learned that I’m brave & resourceful.
- I’ve learned that the coldest weather can still have the warmest people.
- That love and kindness are everywhere, and we just have to open up to them.
I am convinced that travel connects us to one another and is the reason and the passion behind this blog. It was such a life-changing event that I have not stopped traveling since, which has lead to many questions from my friends, acquaintances and family members about how I manage to balance it all.
How am I making my passion for travel my life?
Honestly, I don’t think I have some magic trick or the perfect equation to solve the mysteries of traveling. I do, however, have learned a few skills along the way that have helped me to go on grand adventures while “settling down” all at the same time. These concepts are not exclusive from each other, and my goal is to share what I’ve learned so far, travel more and build on those experiences. I want to make sure all of you get the tools and resources to travel planning, budgeting and having a balance between life and travel. Because let’s face it, not all of us are willing to leave everything behind to dedicate our lives to travel. Most of us want to have the cake and eat it too.
So, when I’m not traveling, I’m back home working, spending time with my friends and family. I dedicate my days off to my relationships, my pets, and infecting people with a passion for travel.
I love to come home.
